OUTLINE

After the terror attack on October 7th in Israel, a national crisis unfolded.
Despite the lack of government coordination, Israeli society united, coordinating donations of money, food, and clothing through WhatsApp groups and social media platforms for both evacuated civilians and the military forces.

Recognizing the need for more efficient assistance, the idea of a platform connecting independent donation organizers with supporters was born.

  • Survey: 36 donation supporters in the ages 24-50 + 7 organizers

Competitive Research

TL;DR

Many competitors in the field focus on fundraising. In those that have donations of goods, the possibilities are relatively limited.


Furthermore, some of the competitors lack detailed information about the fundraising organizer, often restricting communication to a form on the site.

 

Security and verification are highlighted by all competitors, some incorporate compensation mechanisms to address potential fraud issues. 
None of the competitors has a volunteering feature or a way to support local businesses in need.

PERSONAS

After talking to several people during the interview, I developed my 3 main personas:
Anna - a donation supporter, Emily - a donation organizer, and Jacob - a tomato farm owner seeking assistance.

GOAL STATEMENT

The "Helping Hands" app is a platform for personalized matching between volunteers\donation supporters and individual organizers & small businesses. Allowing volunteers to easily find the cause they want to support, and organizers/businesses to seamlessly reach the right audiences, while maintaining a high level of security and transparency.

Home Screen

This is the homepage of Anna (volunteer \ supporter). It has custom personalized suggestions of donation campaigns and volunteer opportunities. it also has a shop section, where she can purchase products of small businesses who experience difficulties.
